We assist clients in all phases of the STC (one time and multiple use), PMA processes, and many other certification processes. The key to success in these areas require understanding the steps from concept to approval. For instance, a PMA process can be fairly straightforward, while the STC process can vary dramatically. Both can be an arduous process if not managed properly, and many languish for years in the system before they are abandoned by the applicant through mental or economic exhaustion, or both. Applications have at times been unceremoniously removed from the FAA’s active projects after being deemed a dormant project.
The following will only address the STC process and is an example that is relevant to other approval processes:

This highly specialized endeavor requires a thorough understanding of not just the original intent of the project, but also the current knowledge and interpretation of the approval process. While we have rescued many STC applications from the abyss, some of our clients have spent thousands of dollars along with hundreds of hours prior to our involvement with most unfortunately being unrecoverable. We strongly recommend that you engage us for a feasibility study before you begin the process. We will meet with our FAA designated engineering representative team members, review your concept, and then provide you with an initial analysis of the feasibility and economic viability of your project, how your application may be received, the potential testing (possibly will include flight or other specialized testing), and the engineering requirements. We will then provide an estimated timeline for the various phases. Spending minimal dollars early will yield a tremendous return through understanding the process or possibly preventing you from wasting valuable resources on a concept that is not economically or functionally viable.
With a positive outcome from our pre-application analysis, we then consult with you and/or your team while you seek your STC, or other approval, or maybe more importantly, we can manage the entire process on your behalf allowing our clients to maintain focus on operating their business. We do not offer shortcuts. Instead, we offer straightforward processes with which to minimize obstructions. Our philosophy is to always attempt to work smart to achieve the desired result.
